Clyde Bender Lockie, 91, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021. He was born to Laurence D. and Clara B. Lockie on February 19, 1929, in Kenmore, NY.  Clyde moved to Lockport, NY, in the ninth grade where he played baseball on the "Comets" in the midget league and graduated from Lockport High School where he also lettered in track. In his younger years he enjoyed farming and eventually worked at the Niagara County Sheriff's office as a radio dispatcher, a Marine Midland Bank branch manager and then settled in at Erie and Niagara Insurance Association (Williamsville/Clarence) where he spent most of his career, ultimately serving as President and Chairman. His professional group involvement included being President of the NY Co-Op Insurance Association, Chair of the National Mutual Insurance Association and several others. His entire adult life he was heavily involved in civic groups which included the Red Cross and March of Dimes fund drives, the Sunrise Optimist Club, The Rotary Club, Lockport Red Feather Campaign, the Grange, Boy Scouts, the Masonic Lodge and, most of all, volunteer fire fighting organizations. Serving as a charter member of South Lockport Fire Company, FASNY member and Secretary of the Western New York Volunteer Fireman's Association, it was a passion. He spent many years attending their annual conventions and meetings across the state and Western NY. He eventually retired to Sarasota, Florida in 1988, and enjoyed many years golfing at Palm-Aire Country Club, going to a Bills Super Bowl XXV, leading the men's golf groups, board of directors and being Chairman of the pension board of the Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue Pension Fund. He eventually moved to Bedford, Texas, to spend his remaining years near family. Clyde was a man of faith and a long-time worshipper at several churches over the years, West Somerset Baptist Church (Barker, NY), Christian Missionary Alliance (Lockport), Millgrove Bible Church (Clarence) as well as churches in Sarasota, FL, and Hurst, TX.

He is survived by his wife, Betty G. Lockie, his beloved wife of 70 years; his daughter, Carol Stout (husband Nolan) of Ft. Worth; son, Paul Lockie (wife Joan) of Alamo, CA; eight grandchildren, six living in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, Brian (Amy) Stout, Keith (Naressa) Stout, Gary (Camille) Stout, Laura (Sean) Garlow, Katie (Derek) Medrano, Kayla (Rance) Morton, and two living in California, Matthew Lockie and Jeffery Lockie; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Robert (Lockport); his sister, Mary Newhard (Lockport); and a son, David (Ft. Worth).  Because of COVID and travel restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Fort Worth area, where most of his family resides.
