Dianna Lynn Dawson (née Denick), of Grand Island, passed away on January 4, 2022 at the age of 55, surrounded by her immediate family. Tragically, Dianna experienced complications associated with surgery.
Dianna is the beloved daughter of Gwendolyn (Charles) Popovich, and the late Richard Denick, (Marcia), former wife of Ronald Dawson, the cherished sister of Laura Fields (fiancé Jarvis Carr), and the most devoted and loving mother of Cory Dawson (fiancée Bree Case), and Ivy (Sawyer) Dawson. Dianna is also survived by two loving nephews, Devan Moultrie (Samantha Stefano), Jared Fields, great-niece Nevaeh Moultrie, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Dianna is a 1984 graduate of North Tonawanda High School and a 1988 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dianna proudly served her country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. She was a dedicated Supervisor for the NYS Department of Labor, achieving retirement on 12-30-21, after completing 32 years of service. Dianna anticipated a long and fulfilling retirement, spending quality time with her children, traveling, and spreading her wings with many adventures. Dianna was an avid karaoke singer where she, and her beautiful voice shined. She enjoyed reading, her fur baby Smudge and spending time with her children, family and friends.
Let us all honor Dianna by living life to the fullest. She will be forever remembered for her selflessness, loyalty, kind spirit, and overflowing pride for her children. She lit up the room with her smile and infectious laughter, always finding joy in celebrating others, our “Karaoke Queen, Lady Di”… Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery.
