E. Lois Hughes, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 5, 2020. She was 92. Lois was born in Franklinville, NY, on October 5, 1928, the daughter of the late W. Percy and Dorothy (Bliton) Hoy. She was a graduate of Riverside High School. A longtime member of Riverside Presbyterian Church, she was active in many of their activity groups. Lois enjoyed her visits at the Senior Center on Colvin Blvd. It was there, she had many friends who enjoyed playing a game of cards. She also enjoyed different games, most specially Dominos on Saturdays with friends, reading and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
An incredible woman, who loved her children and grandchildren. Through the years, she and her husband, the late Henry Hughes, fostered and loved over 40 children. She is survived by children, Henry B. (Sandra) Hughes IV of North Tonawanda, Joyce (Gerald) Wiepert of Ransomville, Dorothy (Daniel) Jones of Niagara Falls, and Donald Hughes of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Henry B. (Melissa) Hughes V, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Hughes, and Adam Hughes, all of North Tonawanda; Gerald (Deborah) Wiepert, Jr. of Hopewell, NY, Christine (Robert) Stevenson of Youngstown, NY, Marlene (Peter) Kostyrka and Jillian (Matt) Thompson both of NC, Valerie (Angelo, Jr.) Farbo of Lewiston; a brother, William (late Susan) Hoy of Columbus; Gail (late Curt) Wainuskis of Carson City, NV, George (Karen) Hoy of San Diego, CA, Karen (Carl) Lemons of Vincennes, IN; 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry B. Hughes, in 2000; grandson, Richard "Ricky" Jones; a sister, Joyce (late Paul) Haskins; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Edward) Fees and Marjorie (late Gordon) Fees.
