WYZYKOWSKI - Edmund “Moe” Edmund “Moe” Wyzykowsk, a lifelong rascal and provocateur, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 30, 2021, at age 91, in Tonawanda, NY. Ed was born on January 25, 1930, in Buffalo, NY. Ed joined the Air Force, serving in the Korean War. After he volunteered to switch places with another cadet whose wife was expecting a child, he served active duty in the Asian theater. While later stationed in Presque Isle, Maine, he met the love of his life, Doris, on a blind date; he told his friends that first night that he was now “off the market”. They soon married and settled down in his hometown, raising their three children. Ed was a member of Laborer’s Local 210 and worked his entire career for Mader Construction Company, earning a reputation for his likability and strong work-ethic. He had many passions including lifelong membership at the Niagara River Station Fishing Club (though he couldn’t swim), and at the Knights of Columbus Council 3076. For many years he ran “Country Western Night” at the Knights and was a member of their bowling league. Ed always had hard-candy and gumdrops in his pockets, walker, and candy dish, although it was well-known that he had a big sweet-tooth, and the treats weren’t necessarily just for the kids. He told corny jokes to anyone who would listen, and he talked to everyone, even if they weren’t listening. Ed was the life of every party or family celebration he attended and loved to dance, tend to his garden, and decorate his home for each holiday. His love for his fellow man led to his charity, he was always compassionate and generous to anyone he knew was in need. He did not seek accolades for his acts, but they earned him many lifelong friends, many of whom he was in touch with until the day he passed. Ed is survived by his children Maureen (Danny) Zaccagnino, Marc (Donna) and Peter (Mary). He was a loving grandfather to Marc Jr. (Melaney Moran), Meg, Matthew (Brittany Koby), Eddy and Marly; and was great-grandfather to Julianna, Marc III, Jaxon, Charlotte and Con. Dear brother of Ronald (Sandra) Wyzykowski and the late Olga (Bill) Lazarczyk, Teddy (Wilma), Mary (John) Ziemba and Alice (Walter) Kieta; and predeceased by his love, Doris, in 2016. Burial will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery, next to his beloved Doris. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory can be made to VA Hospital of Buffalo or Hospice Foundation of WNY, Inc.
